How to stop pine having a yellow-orange tonePine takes on a pale yellow-orange tone after exposure to sunlight. Most finishes exacerbate the problem leaving wood which ages to a "cigarette yellow" tone. The best way to create a pale bleached effect is to treat with a thin coat of diluted Liberon White Wood Dye after sanding. Once dry seal in with Finney’s Trade Acrylic Varnish which enhances the bleached look of the stain. If you prefer the look of a traditional colour choose one of Finney's Professional Water Stains, to darken, try adding a dash of Finney's Blue Bright Water Stain to the mix. This combines with the natural orange to create a much browner shade.
