Which tough wood finish is right for you?
When anyone asks us for the toughest finish we point out that there is a problem. Industrial 2-part finishes, such as Profloor, are as tough as anything can be, but they can also be difficult to apply and have a high odour. Generally, these ‘super tough’ products are used in commercial premises rather than in domestic homes.
And so, the next question is usually, ‘What’s the toughest finish I can get that is easy to use, low odour, and still looks great?’ The best choice then is to use either Finney’s Extra Tough Floor Varnish, perhaps with a coating of Extra Tough Waxed Finish on top; or Durapolish Clear Glaze which (as an oil based product), is a bit slower drying and darkens the wood a little more.
